Cadre Text Alerts

How the Cadre text alerts SMS program works: who can enroll, how consent is collected, and how to get help or opt out.

1. About this program

Cadre text alerts is an SMS program operated by Patchen Technologies LLC for credentialed members of fire departments that subscribe to the Cadre platform. Enrolled members receive text messages related to their department's operations, such as automated incident dispatch alerts, availability requests, and scheduling notices.

Enrollment is only available to members inside the authenticated Cadre app. There is no public enrollment. This page exists so that anyone — including members, departments, and messaging-compliance reviewers — can see exactly how opt-in works and what consent language is presented, even though the enrollment flow itself is behind a login. This page is a disclosure only; you cannot sign up for text messages here.

2. How members opt in

Every enrollment follows the same steps, in this order:

  1. A department administrator invites the member by email.
  2. The member creates their own Cadre account from that invitation.
  3. The member's mobile number is entered by the member themselves, or may be pre-filled by a department administrator when setting up the member's profile. An administrator-entered number is never enrolled in text alerts — it stays inactive until the member personally completes the steps below.
  4. Cadre sends a one-time verification code to that number, and the member enters it to prove they control the phone. This step is required for every number, including numbers entered by an administrator.
  5. The member checks a consent checkbox — unchecked by default — agreeing to receive text alerts. Only after both verification and consent are text alerts enabled. No one can consent on a member's behalf.

Consent is not a condition of employment, department membership, or use of the app. A member who leaves the box unchecked, or who later opts out, keeps full access to Cadre; they simply won't receive text messages.

This is the exact language displayed next to the consent checkbox in the Cadre app:

"I agree to receive text alerts and notifications from Cadre at the number provided, including automated incident dispatch alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. See Terms and Privacy Policy."

In the app, "Terms" and "Privacy Policy" link to the same Terms of Service and Privacy Policy published on this site.

Replying STOP (or any opt-out keyword above) sends one final message confirming the opt-out; after that, no further texts are sent unless the member opts back in. Replying HELP or INFO returns program information and the support contact. Members can also disable text alerts in the app's notification settings or through their department administrator.
